The American women have dominated beach volleyball over the past few Olympics and will look to continue that trend in Rio this year. The effort for the top U.S. duo, Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross, will begin Saturday with their preliminary matchup against Australia’s Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Nikki Laird.
Olympics 2016, beach volleyball schedule: Time, TV coverage and live stream for Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross’ match
The quest for gold starts at Copacabana beach on Saturday night.

Saturday's beach volleyball action will be televised by NBC, and will be available to watch online via NBC Sports.
The last of several beach volleyball matches in a busy day, Walsh Jennings and Ross will take on Artacho del Solar and Laird at 11 p.m. ET on the sands of Copacabana beach. The American twosome should be favored given the way Walsh Jennings’ teams have rolled over competition in the past decade-plus.
Walsh Jennings and former teammate Misty May-Treanor won the gold medal at the Olympics in 2004, 2008 and 2012. They’ve been referred to as the greatest beach volleyball team of all time, and have the hardware to prove it. But May-Treanor retired after the 2012 Olympics in London, so the 37-year-old Walsh Jennings has teamed up with Ross, who won the silver medal in 2012 with partner Jennifer Kessy.
Now Walsh Jennings and Ross will look to defend the title for a fourth consecutive Olympics, and that all starts Saturday against the Australians. Here’s how to watch:
