The NFL removed the part of Orlando Pace’s speech where he thanked St. Louis

The uploaded version of Pace’s Hall of Fame speech left out one big part. The NFL said it was a “technical error.”

St. Louis Rams legend Orlando Pace gave a great speech on Saturday night for his enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It was especially great for recently abandoned football fans in St. Louis. Pace thanked them and reminded everyone listening that “[the Rams] brought a championship to that city. Nobody can take that away.”

The St. Louis Rams became the Los Angeles Rams this year, and the league’s handling of the relocation was an especially bitter, ugly chapter in the league’s history. It’s something the NFL would no doubt like everyone to forget.

Pace’s shout out to St. Louis was somehow left out of the version uploaded to YouTube following Saturday’s ceremony. His missing comments did not go unnoticed.

The video that tweet links to has since been made private.

Pace’s unedited Hall of Fame speech, St. Louis mentions and everything, was uploaded to YouTube on Sunday evening.

So what happened?

There you have it, a “technical error.” The league didn’t mean to pour salt into the festering wound. It’s not like St. Louis is going to forget the Rams anyway, especially since they’re still paying for the abandoned stadium taxpayers built the team nearly two decades ago (talk about a “technical error”).
