Huertas led the Brazilians in scoring with 11 points and dished out game-high seven assists. Marquinhos finished with 10 points and Augusto César Lima added nine points and 10 rebounds in the team’s first win in pool play.
Pau Gasol lead the way for Spain with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Llull scored 11 points and Sergio Rodríguez chipped in 10.
Spain, FIBA’s No. 2-ranked team behind the United States, has now dropped to 0-2 after losing its opening game on Sunday to Croatia on a game-saving block from Dario Saric.
Spain will look for its first win in pool play on Thursday against Nigeria, while Brazil will take on Croatia.
