Khris Middleton will undergo surgery for a torn hamstring, per report

The Milwaukee Bucks’ Khris Middleton has torn his hamstring and will undergo surgery, reported by The Vertical’s Shams Charania and confirmed by the Bucks. Middleton is expected to miss six months.

The 25-year-old Middleton has played at least 79 games in all three seasons with the Bucks, leading the team in scoring last year with 18.2 points on 44 percent shooting and four rebounds in a breakout campaign.

“We’re obviously disappointed for Khris and our team, but injuries are an unfortunate part of the game,” Bucks general manager John Hammond said in a press release. “We’ll rely on our overall roster depth to help us while Khris is out for a significant period of the season.”

Although he’s barely older than the rest of Milwaukee’s core, Middleton established himself as the steadiest hand on last year’s roster. For as long as the Bucks are without him, they’ll miss his presence in the rotation.

The Bucks are already looking around the league for potential wing replacements for this coming season, per The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Right now, Middleton’s primary backup is Rashad Vaughn, a 20-year-old who has shown a few flashes but wouldn’t be expected to fill in directly.

Another option the Bucks might consider is trading Michael Carter-Williams, after signing Matthew Dellavedova as his backup and revealing plans to play Giannis Antetokounmpo at the point extensively this season.
