Orioles give David Ortiz the dugout phone he smashed for a retirement gift

Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz is having arguably the greatest farewell season in the history of baseball, and throughout the year he’s been showered with gifts from opponents. But on Thursday at Camden Yards, the Baltimore Orioles gave him the greatest going away present ever.

This is the phone Ortiz destroyed in 2013 after an ejection against the Orioles. He was unhappy with the home plate umpire not granting him time out, and he took out his frustration on the dugout phone.

You won’t see many more creative retirement gifts than that. That’s a keeper, Big Papi.
