Thomas Rawls behind Christine Michael, fantasy value dropping for Week 1

We break down the fantasy implications of Thomas Rawls being behind Christine Michael on Seattle’s depth chart.

The Seattle Seahawks are still taking a cautious approach with Thomas Rawls’ return. Rawls was listed behind Christine Michael on Seattle’s Week 1 depth chart.

This comes after head coach Pete Carroll said Monday that the Seahawks will not rush Rawls back from his ankle injury, and that “it’s still time to take care of him as we get him back.” Rawls is working his way back from a broken ankle suffered late in 2015 that ended his standout rookie season.

If healthy, Rawls will be the Seahawks’ top running back, but it looks like Seattle will slowly work him into the role and not give him too many touches in Week 1. Michael has done well enough this preseason to keep Seattle from feeling forced to play Rawls too much in Week 1.

Fantasy Spin: Against the Miami Dolphins, whichever back gets the bulk of the touches should be in for a big day. However, Rawls does not appear to be getting a full workload this soon, which hurts his value.

Rawls currently ranks as an RB2 in Week 1, which is how you should view him until Seattle commits to him as its workhorse back, which will make him a solid RB1 once it happens.
