New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will start the season week-to-week with a hamstring injury, according to NFL Network reporter Courtney Fallon.
Rob Gronkowski not 100 percent heading into Sunday night’s game, fantasy value in question
Rob Gronkowski has apparently had a setback with a hamstring injury that has made his playing status “week-to-week.” We look at the fantasy implications.

He told reporters on Thursday that he is not 100 percent heading into Sunday night’s game with the Arizona Cardinals and that his hamstring is bothering him. NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport said Gronk playing on Sunday is “no sure thing”.
Fantasy Spin: This is quite unexpected to most fantasy owners who haven’t been following this situation closely. Gronk apparently suffered this injury about three weeks ago and it is still hampering him. I would call that somewhat concerning due to the fact that you never want to start the season with injuries because they normally linger the entire season, and hamstrings are some of the toughest to judge. Gronkowski will play on Sunday but his fantasy owners should be looking for backup options in case he tweaks it or the injury lingers.
Martellus Bennett’s value should already be considered a top-10 tight end option in all fantasy leagues, even with Gronk full healthy. This injury may increase his role a tad bit but I still look for both to be very successful this season.
