NBA scores 2017: Knicks lose and Derrick Rose has unexplained absence from game

It was not a great night for the New York Knicks

It was a rough night for the New York Knicks from start to finish as they lost to the Pelicans by 24 points, dropped to 17-21 on the season, and Derrick Rose missed the game for unknown family reasons. Just before tip-off it was revealed that Brandon Jennings would start over Derrick Rose as Rose had not reported to Madison Square Garden for the game.

Most of the night was spent with team officials trying to figure out exactly where Rose was. After the game, Joakim Noah acknowledged he had in fact spoken to Rose and that he was “OK” but the rest of the story still remains unclear.

The events that took place on the court were just as bad as what was happening off the court for the Knicks. They were able to hang around through the first half against the Pelicans but once the third quarter started, the Pelicans pulled away. The Pelican won the third quarter, 31-15, while Carmelo Anthony and Kyle 0’Quinn were both ejected on separate plays.

Anthony Davis could not be matched by the Knicks as he scored 40 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, and had three blocks before leaving the game early with a hip injury.

The Knicks are now 2-of-8 in their last 10 games and are sitting in 11th place in the Eastern Conference. There have been bright spots in the Knicks season but right now it all seems quite dark.

There was no “flu game” for Jimmy Butler

Jimmy Butler who was questionable all day with the flu prior to Monday’s matchup tried to play through it. The Bulls lost to the Thunder, 109-94, and Jimmy Butler was held to only one point through three quarters. While he did find a way to hand out seven assists, he did not play in the fourth quarter due to the illness. Butler will also not play against the Wizards on Tuesday.

Assist of the night:

Russell Westbrook was just shy of a triple double on Monday night with 21 points, nine rebounds, and 14 assists.

Dunk of the night:

Not one, but two beautiful dunks from Shabazz Muhammad as the Timberwolves defeated the Mavericks, 101-92.

Also: Rajon Rondo was benched on Rajon Rondo bobblehead night
