Following the Sacramento Kings’ 100-94 Tuesday win over the Detroit Pistons, a reporter asked DeMarcus Cousins whether he, indeed, wanted to stay in Sacramento, citing the possibility of signing a contract extension over the summer.
DeMarcus Cousins asked his biggest critics if he should stay in Sacramento. One said no.
Cousins asked the Sacramento Bee columnist he confronted in December whether he wanted him to stay in Sacramento.

But Boogie, being the jokester he is, flipped the question on the scrum of reporters surrounding him.
“Yeah it looks like it,” he said while scratching his head. “Is this where I wanna be? Y’all want me to be here?”
Cousins then jokingly singled out Sacramento Bee columnists Ailene Voisin and Andy Furillo.
“Ailene? Hey Ailene, you want me to be here?” he asked, to which she responded “Didn’t you say you always wanted to be here?”
“I asked you, do you want me to be here,” he responded. After a brief exchange, she responded, “No comment.”
Cousins then moved on to Furillo, the Bee columnist whom the All-Star big man confronted in December.
“Andy, would you like me to remain here?” Cousins asked, taking a slightly more serious tone.
“For me, I would say no,” Furillo responded.
In early December, Cousins and Matt Barnes were involved in a fight outside of a New York City nightclub during which Barnes allegedly choked a woman. The next week, Furillo wrote a column suggesting Cousins shouldn’t hang out at clubs after games. He also included commentary regarding Boogie’s younger brother.
For Cousins, this is his second late-night outing on the club circuit this year that ended badly. In May, TMZ caught him at The DrYnk in Tampa with his younger brother, Jaleel. The celebrity gossip website reported that he and his brother were trying to get into the club’s DJ area when a confrontation broke out. Jaleel wound up getting shocked with a Taser and arrested while friends hustled DeMarcus out of the place.
After the Kings beat the Lakers in December, Cousins told Furillo, among other things, “Don’t ever mention my brother. You don’t know my f***ing brother.”
So when Furillo responded “no,” Cousins’ answer was fitting.
“Well, guess what?” he asked. “Guess what, people? I’m here.”
Boogie scored 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting, grabbed 13 rebounds, and dished out six assists in the Kings’ win over Detroit. Sacramento (16-22) is in a virtual tie with Portland (17-23) for the Western Conference’s eighth seed.
