Illness has been a consistent theme in the lead up to the pair of conference championship games Sunday, and the Green Bay Packers are trying to make sure that the bug caught by Jordy Nelson doesn’t get the rest of the team sick.
Jordy Nelson didn’t practice because he’s sick and the Packers are quarantining him
Avoiding a virus sweeping through the locker room is a good idea.

According to Ed Werder of ESPN, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters that Nelson wasn’t with the team Friday because they were worried that his illness was contagious.
Nelson participated on a limited basis in practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to a rib injury suffered in the Packers’ 38-13 win over the New York Giants in the Wild Card round. He didn’t play in the team’s win over the Dallas Cowboys, and his status for the NFC Championship against the Atlanta Falcons is still up in the air.
Losing Nelson could be tough for the Packers, who don’t have many healthy receivers to work with. McCarthy said Nelson could be a game-time decision, as well as Davante Adams due to an ankle injury and Geronimo Allison with a pulled hamstring. Dealing with an illness likely doesn’t help Nelson’s chances any.
Keeping Nelson away from the team isn’t a bad idea after the Pittsburgh Steelers learned the hard way. Several Steelers players are dealing with the flu and even New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady didn’t look 100 percent during a press conference Wednesday.
