Royal Rumble 2017 results: Charlotte Flair retains RAW women’s title over Bayley
Charlotte remains undefeated in pay-per-view title matches.
Charlotte took control of the match early on, but Bayley quickly made a comeback, dropping Flair on the outside with a hurricanrana. She then climbed to the top and hit a crossbody on the floor, dragging Charlotte back in the ring for a two-count.
Bayley’s advantage wouldn’t last long, as Charlotte took over and over her over in the ring. After an extended chinlock and several unsuccessful pinfall attempts, Charlotte briefly got caught by Bayley in a small package for two. A big boot to the face put Bayley back down, and Charlotte hooked her head in a leglock to throw her around the ring.
Of course, Bayley refused to stay down for long, and was soon back on the attack with a flurry of offense. A springboard crossbody put Charlotte down on the mat, and Bayley climbed to the top rope for a giant elbow drop, which Charlotte somehow kicked out of.
Charlotte escaped and locked in her Figure Four submission, but Bayley reversed and forced her opponent to grab the rope and break the hold. Charlotte went up top and went for a huge moonsault, but Bayley blocked it with her knees and was able to get a two-count.
After a struggle on the turnbuckle, Charlotte shoved Bayley off and hit Natural Selection on the apron, which was enough to get the pin and retain her title.
