Real Madrid are running rampant in the Champions League this season, but this weekend they’re playing in La Liga, which has been a much different story. So now with Espanyol coming to the Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid will be hoping that their fortunes will change for the better.
Real Madrid vs. Espanyol live stream: Time, TV channel, and how to watch online
Will Real Madrid finally break their luckless home streak in La Liga this season?

Madrid’s struggles this season can be highlighted by one bizarre statistic: They are winless at home in the Bernabeu in La Liga so far this season, with two draws and one loss in league action. They do have a home win in the Champions League and in the Spanish Super Cup, but that lack of home success in the league is holding Madrid well down the table, in a position that’s left fans and players alike agitated and unsatisfied.
That means they’ll almost certainly be focused and driven towards breaking that ill fortune against Espanyol, something the Barcelona-based side will be eager to avoid. Keeping Madrid frustrated and winless at home for as long as possible will be the goal of all of La Liga, and it’s going to be interesting to see what it takes for the defending Champions League winners to break that ill fortune.
Real Madrid are still dealing with numerous injuries, with Toni Kroos, Marcelo, Karim Benzema, Mateo Kovacic, and Theo Hernandez all hurt. Espanyol aren’t much better off, though — Javi Lopez, Oscar Duarte, and Adrien Lopez are all sidelines, and they lack the quality of depth that Madrid have to deal with those injuries.
