The Giants are in horrible shape at wide receiver.

The New York Giants lost another wide receiver for the year with Brandon Marshall set to undergo surgery Tuesday to repair an ankle injury suffered in Week 5.

Marshall, 33, announced the surgery Monday night on Instagram.

The caption reads:

Tomorrow I’ll have surgery ending year 12. I’m filled with mixed emotions. I wasn’t able to produce for my team the way I wanted to but this was my greatest year to date. This game has shown me who I really am good and bad. This game has given me the opportunity to grow as a man, father, husband, teammate, leader.. . I’m so thankful for this game.. . The biggest lesson I’ve learned about myself is that Adversity kicks my Ass. I’m proud to say that after 12 years I’ve finally became the man I knew I was suppose to be by confronting Adversity with a Smile. Gods Delay isn’t Gods Denial #DueSeason

For the Giants, it’s another bad blow to a wide receiving corps that placed Dwayne Harris and Odell Beckham Jr. on injured reserve Monday following injuries each suffered in Week 5. While Marshall was carted off the field with what looked like a serious injury, Giants coach Ben McAdoo called it a sprain after the game.

Evidently, it’s more serious than that.

Sterling Shepard also suffered an ankle injury and is day-to-day in his recovery. The Giants signed Travis Rudolph and Tavarres King on Monday when the team placed Beckham and Harris on injured reserve, but may need to continue to make moves at the position.

The Giants are 0-5 and No. 28 in points scored. With Marshall done for the year, things aren’t looking like they’ll be getting much better any time soon.
