Kyrie Irving wants you to know Boston is a ‘real, live sports city,’ unlike Cleveland
This will go over well with Cavaliers fans.
Kyrie Irving isn’t being subtle: He wants you to know that Cleveland is a bad city, and Boston is better.
“Boston, I’m driving in and (thinking), ‘I’m really playing in a real, live sports city?’” Irving told reporters on Wednesday.
Irving, of course, requested and was traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Boston Celtics this summer. It captivated the basketball world because anyone demanding a trade is fascinating but someone demanding to be traded from a team with LeBron James is especially so. Since then, Irving has been typically strange about the whole ordeal. Now he’s dissing Cleveland, the city, which ... I mean, I’ve done the same thing, but it’s not going to endear him to any Cavaliers fans.
“It’s exciting to be back on the East Coast,” Irving said. “It’s fast-paced. A lot of different cultures, food and people. You get it all, especially in Boston. You would go to Cleveland, and it would be at nighttime, and things would be going on, but you just see a vast difference.”
