After missing much of the preseason, Lonzo Ball rejoins the Lakers’ roster to open the season against the Clippers.

The Lakers have undergone a dynamic change since last year. With Ball expected to spearhead their offense, the Lakers will try to be much more efficient than they have been during the last four seasons. However, Ball recently missed most of this year’s preseason schedule due to an ankle injury, and facing the Clippers will be his first official game in the NBA.
Julius Randle will also join the roster, making the Lakers’ frontcourt the most interesting aspect to consider. While the rotation between Brook Lopez, Randle, Luol Deng, Brandon Ingram, and Larry Nance Jr. appears ideal, they face a veteran, healthy Clippers’ frontcourt. Not to mention, the Clippers acquired a nice lineup as a result of the Chris Paul trade. Blake Griffin and Deandre Jordan could pose a challenge for this young Lakers’ team, which could result in an entertaining night for the fans.

Lakers vs. Clippers news:
“Ball is ready to go after sitting out most of exhibition with an ankle injury, giving fans their first full look at what it means to have a new No. 2 pick point guard running the show. He’ll get to cut his teeth against Patrick Beverley and Milos Teodosic, which should be a tough welcome to the league.”
Per Brad Turner of the LA Times, Sam Dekker, Danilo Gallinari, and Austin Rivers all participated in the Clippers’ practice yesterday. Considering those guys missed most of preseason, that’s a good sign. While they did have sprains, it seemed clear that they were being held out of preseason games mostly as a precaution.
In addition, Pat Beverley and Sindarius Thornwell, who both missed time in preseason as well, started getting shots up today.
Lopez is a respected from everywhere on the court at this point. He can put in work in the low post, hit the 15-footer, and step all-the-way out to the 3-point line. Considering how rudimentary the Lakers’ offense is once half-court sets come into play — something head coach Luke Walton has been clear about all preseason — having a player like Brook to feed possessions to is going to become a comfortable option.
Clippers vs. Lakers prediction:
The experience between the Clippers’ veterans and the addition of Beverley and Milos Teodosic will give them the winning edge over the young Lakers.
