Eric Gordon drills a buzzer-beating 3 for Rockets to beat 76ers

Gordon’s clutch shot buried Philadelphia.

Eric Gordon sank a buzzer-beating three-pointer Wednesday to down the Philadelphia 76ers, part of nine unanswered Houston Rockets points in the final three minutes. The 76ers had led the entire fourth quarter, but their late collapse allowed the Rockets to steal it as time ran out.

Gordon finished with 29 points — 7-of-20 shooting with five triples — and the game-winning shot was a little bit too easy. The 76ers swayed too far toward James Harden, allowing Gordon to spring open in the corner and get an open look after a side dribble. It was a fantastic bit of court awareness from Gordon, knowing he had time to take that dribble to launch that shot.

Still, the 76ers certainly fell apart — they scored for the last time with 3:05 left on the clock, and much of that came from the team going away from their normal offensive action. The 76ers now fall to 1-4, while the Rockets have an inverted record at 4-1.
