Reversing your field on a punt return is a dangerous decision, but doing it inside your own 10-yard line is about as bad of a decision as you can possibly make.
Chargers’ Travis Benjamin ran for a safety on the worst punt return you’ll ever see
You’re going the wrong way!

Los Angeles Chargers receiver Travis Benjamin handed over the lead to the Patriots in Week 8 when he muffed a punt on the 10-yard line, scooped it up on the 8-yard line, and ran backward to his own goal line where he was tackled by multiple New England defenders.
That’s ... uh ... really not good.
Punt return issues aren’t new for the Chargers. A couple years ago in 2015, the team finished with a grand total of 84 punt return yards on the entire season and had just a few yards well into October.
Things got a little better after the Chargers signed Benjamin, but the team was still No. 26 in punt returns last year. Earlier this year, Benjamin had a touchdown and has been pretty good on returns.
But this particular return was a disaster.
