NBA twins Markieff Morris and Marcus Morris were acquitted by a jury in Phoenix in their aggravated assault trial on Tuesday, according to the Maricopa County Superior Court.

The Morris brothers, then members of the Phoenix Suns, were accused of helping three others assault 36-year-old Erik Hood outside of a Phoenix high school basketball game back in January 2015, according to the Associated Press.

Two other co-defendants pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in mid-September.

The Morris brothers were, indeed, at a high school basketball game in Phoenix that January, and a fight did break out. But two witnesses who attempted to break up the altercation placed both Marcus and Markieff near the fight, not a part of it.

The nail that slammed the case shut was when one of the Morris brothers’ defense attorneys discovered Hood’s mentor attempted to pay those two witnesses to place the pair of NBA forwards as part of the fight. The witnesses declined the offer, then flipped on Hood, according to the AP.

Hood also switched his story multiple times, first implicating both Morris twins, then only Marcus Morris, according to the AP.

Marcus Morris now plays for the Boston Celtics, while Markieff plays for the Washington Wizards. Both twins missed their preseason openers tending to the trial.
