The Seattle Seahawks won the best game of the NFL season through eight weeks yesterday afternoon against the Texans. It was an offensive explosion so beautiful that even Russell Wilson finished the game with more total yards than the Seahawks did collectively.
Here’s Russell Wilson playing the air flute after throwing a game-winning TD against the Texans
There haven’t been many GIFs better than this one this season.

One thing that got lost in the fold of the bonkers game, was Russell Wilson’s celebration after throwing what ended up being the game-winning touchdown to Jimmy Graham.
Playing an air flute:
And yes, that’s quite the apt description by Mr. Tim Williams — Wilson really does look like a happy elf as he skips towards his teammates while shredding his imaginary flute. He’s a small guy with some serious pep in his step.
It’s a celebration so good, but also comes with an explanation.
The Seahawks tweeted this video on Thursday, in which they celebrate “Techno Thursday”:
In case you’re wondering, that’s not the actual Macklemore in that video. That’s Tanner McEvoy in a Macklemore jersey.
Oh, and Techno Thursday also includes players wearing short shorts.
As I always say — “Sky’s out, thighs out.”
“It’s a movement, you know?” Wilson said last week. “We’ve got the core group of guys now. I’ll bet by Week 12, 14, somewhere in there, we’ll have 53, plus 10 practice squad, so 63 guys all wearing it. That’s what I think.”
The Seahawks have always been an interesting group with many characters, but Techno Thursdays with short shorts and imaginary flute playing is some of their finest work.
I’m also going to pretend that Wilson just did that on his own without inspiration, because it’s funnier that way and it makes him seem like a dork.
