NFL power rankings 2017: Tracking where teams are entering Week 9

The Eagles are 7-1, and they are clearly the top team heading into Week 9.

Football fans, the first half of the 2017 NFL season is over, and the Philadelphia Eagles — who are 7-1 — are the top team heading into Week 9. The Carson Wentz-led Eagles took care of business against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8. Philadelphia is now on a six-game winning streak.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, and the Dallas Cowboys are all coming off Week 8 victories, and all five teams are at least in the top 10 on each power rankings list.

The Minnesota Vikings also traveled across the pond and defeated the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. In fact, Minnesota cracked the top five on ESPN’s power rankings. ESPN also has the New Orleans Saints and Houston in the top 10. Of course.

Yahoo Sports’ power rankings look similar to ESPN’s, but the Saints are the No. 6 team. And the Carolina Panthers finally made it back into the top 10 after defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 8.

Even though the Los Angeles Rams had a bye week in Week 8, they are the No. 2 team on NFL.com’s power rankings. Also, the Vikings, Saints, Buffalo Bills, and Jacksonville Jaguars are in the top 10.

CBS Sports’ power rankings has the Rams in the top 5. The Bills and Vikings are also in the top. Both teams continue to climb each list every week. However, the Oakland Raiders are out of the top 20 on each list. Their offense is inconsistent at best, and the defense is struggling to make plays.

Like every week, SB Nation released its Hope Rankings heading into Week 9. No, this isn’t your ordinary power rankings list — but this list gives fans an idea of which team has the most hope going into Week 9. Once again, the Eagles are on top of this list, and New Orleans is still in the top five.

Like in weeks past, the 49ers and the Cleveland Browns couldn’t collect a win — and both teams are at the bottom of each power rankings list. At this point, one of these teams will have the first pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
