Tom Brady ties Peyton Manning, Brett Favre for most regular season wins by NFL starting QB

Brady is only one win away from holding the record by himself.

Tom Brady is in the NFL’s record books once again. With the New England Patriots’ 19-14 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 5, Brady collected his 186th regular season victory, tying Brett Favre and Peyton Manning for the most ever by a starting quarterback. Brady completed 30 of 40 attempts for 303 yards, one touchdown, and one pick en route to this milestone. Brady already owns the most career wins by a starting quarterback in NFL history, including his 25 playoff victories.

Why is this important?

It took Brady fewer games to reach the mark than Favre and Manning. Brady, 40, only needed 240 regular season games to compile those 186 wins. On the other hand, it took Favre 298 games while Manning played in 265 games. Now, Brady can break the all-time record for most regular season wins by knocking off the New York Jets next Sunday.

What does this mean for Brady?

This is yet another reason the five-time Super Bowl champion is considered by many to be the greatest quarterback of all-time. Brady is a four-time Super Bowl MVP, a two-time league MVP, and a 12-time Pro Bowler. His entire career is loaded with accomplishments.

So far, 2017 has been another great year for Brady, even though the 3-2 Patriots are off to an uncharacteristically slow start. He orchestrated the biggest comeback victory in Super Bowl LI, broke plenty of Super Bowl records, and recently won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the 28th time — which is the most in league history.

If Brady continues to play after 40, he’ll probably break more records. In fact, he currently has 467 passing touchdowns, which is good for fourth all-time. Manning sits at the top of that list with 539. Brady could potentially shatter that record if he decides to play for another two years.
