Dwyane Wade and LeBron James are starting on the same team once again.
Dwyane Wade will start for the Cavaliers, according to Tyronn Lue
J.R. Smith will move into a bench role.

Wade will be the Cavaliers’ starting shooting guard to begin the season, according to a report from Cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon.
Once Wade signed with the Cavs, speculation began immediately about what role he would play and whether he’d be willing to come off the bench for Cleveland after starting throughout his entire career. We argued that Wade should start at point guard.
Instead, Wade will be playing alongside Derrick Rose, Jae Crowder, James, and Kevin Love.
How does this impact the Cavaliers?
The Cavaliers’ starting lineup with Wade in the game completely inverts their floor spacing. They’ll be starting two traditional non-shooters at their guard positions and the players in their front court will be used to space the floor. That may present a problem for the Cavaliers.
Though Wade shot 35 percent from three in the postseason for Chicago last year, that small sample can’t be trusted. Derrick Rose shot the worst three-point percentage of his career last season on the second-fewest attempts from three of his career and James’ three-point shot has been up and down throughout his career.
Crowder and Love should be able to clear space around the rim with their shooting, but it’s still difficult to pinpoint exactly where the Cavaliers’ dangerous outside threat is in their starting lineup.
Still, these are smart players. Wade and James have chemistry working together despite their limitations in shooting and they’ll still be difficult to contain as slashers. We’ll see how things work out for them once the season begins.
