Devonta Freeman leaves Cowboys vs. Falcons game with a concussion
The Falcons’ star running back left the field in the first quarter.

Freeman took a hit directly to the head early in the first quarter, and was immediately taken to the locker room.
What does this mean for the Falcons? Freeman is the team’s feature back, but all is not lost with him out. Tevin Coleman has proven to be a great back in his own right, and should be a sigh of relief as a backup option for however long Freeman is out.
In eight games this season, Coleman has just 63 carries, but amassed 316 yards, giving him an average of five yards per carry. He also has one rushing touchdown on the year, and been a threat in the receiving game with two touchdowns through the air.
Coming into Sunday’s game, Freeman had 114 rushes for 512 yards and five touchdowns. Freeman and the Falcons agreed to an extension during the offseason to make him the NFL’s highest-paid running back with a $41 million deal, featuring $22 million in guarantees.
