Martellus Bennett got his revenge on the Packers

After getting cut by the Packers with a shoulder injury, Bennett played for his old team on ‘Sunday Night Football.’

Martellus Bennett’s roller coaster week ended with him making three receptions for 38 yards in Denver as a member of the Patriots.

Bennett was cut by the Packers last week after disagreeing on the severity of his shoulder injury. He was expected to miss time with his shoulder injury, but after an internal disagreement on it, the team decided to move on.

He then ripped the Packers medical staff on Instagram, claiming that the team wanted to influence him to not get surgery on his injured shoulder. He would be picked up by the Patriots, and after three days of practice, contribute on Sunday Night Football in a 41-16 win.

After the game, Bennett talked about his injury.

“I talked to six or seven doctors about it, and it could go either way, and it was one of those things that I felt like should get fixed,” Bennett said. “And then after trying to get it fixed and getting waived, you just got that vengeance in your heart. You’re just kind of like, ‘All right, that’s how you’re going to do it? Then f--- it, let’s go ball.’”

He’s not worried about how the Packers feel about him, either. “I got criticism from all of my former organizations, so, I mean, f--- it at this point. I am rubber, and you’re glue, and anything you say bounced off me and sticks to you.”

Being the fun guy that he is, the best part of it all? Being “normal” for a couple of days:

Bennett said he still doesn’t know what he’s going to do, but he thinks he should still get the surgery. But if he can continue to play through it and help the Patriots get another title, that shouldn’t be a surprise, either.
