Bill Self has landed another five-star recruit for Kansas basketball. Quentin Grimes, a 6’5 shooting guard out of Texas, committed to the Jayhawks on Wednesday night. Grimes is ranked as the No. 11 player in class of 2018 by Rivals.

Grimes is a strong combo guard noted for his shooting and ability to create offense off the dribble. He chose Kansas over offers from Kentucky and Marquette.

Grimes is the fourth recruit for Kansas in the class of 2018, joining five-star point guard Devon Dotson, five-star big man Silvio De Sousa, and four-star center David McCormack. It’s another impressive class for Self, currently ranking No. 2 in the country according to Rivals.

Kansas is also still after Zion Williamson, one of the top players in the class of 2018.

Quentin Grimes mixtape

Grimes’ craft as a scorer is on display in this mixtape. He has an array of moves in his arsenal, including Eurosteps, floaters and step-back jumpers:

Grimes feels like the best NBA prospect in Kansas’ recruiting class at this point. The Jayhawks have subtlety moved away from one-and-done types this year, instead focusing on transfers and players who could stick with the program long-term.

Grimes feels like an exception to that. He was projected as the No. 8 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by ESPN.
