Jaylen Brown is only in his second year, but there’s no question that he’s right where he belongs. He was the most crucial player in the Celtics’ 92-88 win over the Warriors on Thursday night.

He made defensive plays against the champ’s two biggest stars
Brown was the Celtics’ best player throughout the game on both ends. He finished with 22 points and scored 11 of them in the third quarter. Brown isn’t a great scorer, but he’s slowly maturing into the two-way wing the Celtics drafted him to be.
But it wasn’t Brown’s scoring that was the most impressive part of his night. That comes easy. It was guarding both Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry at times and making it look easy.
First, Brown stole the ball from Stephen Curry and banged it home on the other end. But he wasn’t done. Just a few seconds later, he was blocking Kevin Durant’s jump shot.
He still wasn’t done. In the second quarter during a 15-3 run by the Celtics, Brown drained a three on one end and then got this incredible block on the other end against Klay Thompson.
It looks like it was a foul, but it wasn’t called so play ball. Either way, Brown isn’t afraid to mix it up with the best players in the league, and that’s a great sign for the Celtics.
This has officially turned into a running post. The Celtics are in the midst of a run and Brown is doing most of the work. He’s scored eight points in the quarter and is making defensive play after defensive play. What sparked the run? This backcourt violation he forced on Durant.
He’s already been to the Eastern Conference Finals and has been stuck with the assignment of guarding LeBron James. Now, he’s one of the best defenders on the best defensive team in the league.
If there were ever any doubts about Brown’s prospects as a professional, they should be gone now.
