NC State fumbles potential game-winning TD right at the goal line against Wake Forest

This was a devastating way to end a play, which looked promising.

NC State was well on their way to at least tying the game against Wake Forest after being down 30-24. Instead, they lost because of this touchback.

Freshman wide receiver Emeka Emezie made a shifty move after a reception and reached out for a touchdown, before linebacker Demetrius Kemp knocked it out of his hands:

Emezie was so devastated for making the play, he was crying on the sideline:

Emezie had a good game up until that point. He had five receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown on the evening.

The Wolfpack haven’t held a lead during the game, and assuming the extra point would have been good, they would have been able to have a late lead against Wake.

Instead, they lost the game. The Wolfpack got another shot after forcing a Wake Forest punt, but wasn’t able to do anything with the ball and a lack of timeouts. It drops NC State to 7-4 on the season.
