Kevin Durant, back in Oklahoma City for Wednesday’s game, was heartily booed when introduced in the starting lineups. Unlike last year, he smiled through the introductions. It looked like he might have been trying not to, but after a second, he broke down and flashed a grin.
Kevin Durant smiled through boos as his name was announced in Oklahoma City
Durant’s second visit to Oklahoma City is much more chill.

In his second return to Oklahoma City since his much-discussed departure last year, Durant has been much better received. After all, time heals all wounds, and Oklahoma City’s heated reaction to its once-beloved superstar will slowly damper. Durant’s still being booed throughout the game, but it’s not quite as lusty as last year. Nor does Durant himself seem as affected by the storyline — it was all about getting past the first one.
Before the game, there were more Warriors fans than last year.
Still, that doesn’t mean the Thunder, even as an organization, are over it.
There will probably never be a warm welcome. That said, even Russell Westbrook was ready to move on past Durant’s decision last year, and that desire probably hasn’t changed.
