The Louisville Cardinals lost to the Kentucky Wildcats in last year’s Governor’s Cup, giving Kentucky the 15-14 series edge all time. They will have the opportunity to tie the series at noon ET Saturday on the SEC Network (live stream).

Louisville lost the Governor’s Cup matchup last season, but it is primed to reclaim the trophy this year.

The Lamar Jackson-led Cardinals (7-4) are in fourth place in the ACC Atlantic Division and are winners of two games in a row. So far this season, he threw for 3,273 yards to go along with 23 touchdowns against just six interceptions.
At 7-4, the Wildcats sit in third place in a competitive SEC East Division, and they are currently coming off an embarrassing 42-13 loss against the Georgia Bulldogs. Kentucky will have to run the ball effectively to win this game. The Wildcats average 164.5 rushing yards per game — good for 64th in the nation. But that’s better than their 94th-ranked passing game, at least.

Louisville vs. Kentucky News
Jackson finished Saturday’s 56-10 win over Syracuse with 381 yards of total offense. He had 270 yards passing with two touchdowns and added 111 yards rushing with two more scores. Jackson now owns the school record for career total offense with 12,474 yards and ranks third all-time in the ACC.
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner is only the second player in ACC history to string together five-straight 100-yard rushing games twice in his career, joining former Boston College standout Montel Harris. Jackson was named the ACC Offensive Back of the Week for the second time this season after first being selected on Sept. 11.
If you’ve reached your limit of “Lamar Jackson doesn’t get enough respect and it’s driving me crazy” content, then you might want to skip this one. Of course if you’re here, you probably already saw the headline and have spontaneously combusted. That’s my fault. I’ll wear it.
For everyone else, the three finalists for two of college football’s most prestigious awards, the Maxwell Award and the Davey O’Brien Award, were released Monday. Neither included Jackson.
Fromm has ripped off some impressive throws, including a 27-yard strike to Javon Wims for a touchdown. Fromm’s got an accurate and powerful cannon attached to his right shoulder, and that accuracy got the better of him as he tried to return the ball to a ref after Kentucky halted a third-and-six attempt with a timeout.
Well, it turns out C.J. Conrad’s foot injury was as bad as initially feared. Despite Conrad being listed on the Monday depth chart, UK won’t have the star tight end for another game this season.
Head coach Mark Stoops announced that Conrad is out for the year with a lisfranc foot injury. It will require surgery and cause him to miss this week’s matchup with the Louisville Cardinals, as well as UK’s bowl game.
Conrad is UK’s third-leading receiver this season with 16 catches for 286 yards and four scores. The numbers only begin to tell the story though, as UK’s passing offense doesn’t present a lot of chances for Conrad to shine.
Louisville vs. Kentucky prediction
The Cardinals have been playing great football over the past two weeks, and they will knock off Kentucky to reclaim the Governor’s Cup crown.
