The Rockets are going to get a lot of threes up in a game, but so are the Nets. And in Houston’s 117-103 win over Brooklyn on Monday night, both teams let the trey ball fly.
The Nets and Rockets set an NBA record, shooting 89 three pointers
Houston and Brooklyn shoot it more than any other team. They proved it on Monday.

The Rockets attempted 50 (fifty!) triples and made 20 of them. The Nets got up 39 threes, making only 10. Together, the two teams made history, attempting an NBA-record 89 threes in a single game.
Houston and Brooklyn eclipsed their own record of 88 threes set in January. The Rockets won that game, 137-112.
The NBA is moving away from the mid-range jump shot and closer to a league of layups/dunks and threes, and the Rockets and Nets are ahead of the curve.
Houston’s 50 threes were six more than their league-leading season average of 44 triples attempted per game. Brooklyn averages 33.4 attempted threes a night, the second-highest clip in the NBA.
Man, that is a lot of threes.
