Ben Simmons’ shredded jersey is the latest Nike mishap during a game

This is the fourth time we’ve seen a ripped jersey on the court.

Ben Simmons’ Nike jersey ripped in half after being grabbed during a 76ers-Pacers game, the fourth Nike jersey to rip during a game this season.

The first one happened in the season opener, when LeBron James’ jersey ripped down the back. Since then, we’ve also seen ripped jerseys from Draymond Green and James Ennis.

Nike took over from Adidas as the league’s official uniform supplier this season, and they said two weeks ago that it is investigating why the jerseys keep ripping. Clearly, it hasn’t found a solution yet.

The Simmons tear might be the worst yet. From another angle, you see Simmons literally take off the jersey and toss it aside. What is he supposed to do? The thing is not at all wearable in that state.

Simmons doesn’t actually play without the jersey on — that would have been bizarre video footage, and the officials might have stopped play without letting it continue. (He was also mad about not getting a foul call, which, well, yeah.) But the longer this keeps happening, the worse it looks for Nike.
