One of the highlights week in and week out surrounding Thursday Night Football is the Color Rush uniforms.
Why isn’t Washington wearing its Color Rush uniforms on ‘Thursday Night Football’?
Washington’s wearing all burgundy instead of all gold. What gives?

The NFL did a full rollout of the Color Rush uniforms in 2016, when all 32 teams would participate in some form or fashion. While teams like the Rams had very vibrant Color Rush uniforms, other teams like the Bengals have gone with a more subtle look.
The Cowboys, like the Bengals, are wearing an all-white version of Color Rush uniforms against Washington.
So if teams are supposed to wear their Color Rush uniforms, why isn’t Washington?
Team president Bruce Allen doesn’t like them.
According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Allen called the color rush uniforms “garish.”
The team had a Twitter poll in 2015, where 53 percent of voters chose all burgundy, while 47 percent voted all gold. In 2016, they were able to get out of it by using Thanksgiving as an excuse to not wear them.
They decided to go with all burgundy instead.
Before their game on Thursday night against the Cowboys, the team confirmed what head coach Jay Gruden wasn’t certain of during the week — that the team wouldn’t be wearing their Color Rush uniforms.
So what are they supposed to be wearing then?
These all gold uniforms, which look just as fine as anything else they ever wear:
And as much as Bruce Allen doesn’t like them, the team is still making money off them by selling them in the NFL Shop.
Leave it to Washington to be on the wrong side of something — even if it is something as light as a uniform choice.
