Following Mark Dantonio’s ‘Moana’ moment, Michigan State played The Rock’s song throughout win over Penn State

Gotta love the fun by Sparty.

During Michigan State’s game against Penn State on Saturday, the Spartan band struck up “You’re Welcome” from Disney’s Moana.

They also played the song afterward in victory:

But there’s significance behind the song choice.

Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio’s Monday presser was interrupted when a cellphone went off on the podium that played The Rock’s Moana song.

While many initially believed it to belong to Dantonio, SB Nation’s Steven Godfrey was able to confirm the phone actually belonged to a reporter who had placed it on the podium. It’s a common practice among journalists to do so; this person just forgot to flip the switch to vibrate.

The moment was a funny one, and it’s cool that Michigan State’s band was able to have some fun with it. Especially after a win against a top 10 team in Penn State.
