NBA scores 2017: Anthony Davis’s incredible block and 5 other things from Saturday night

Anthony Davis had the early defensive sequence of the year, but that wasn’t all that happened on Saturday.

There are probably a load of other things you’d rather do on a Saturday night than watch basketball. Enter me: Basketball fiend and content curator.

Here’s what you missed if you didn’t feel like glueing yourself to a TV (or renewing your NBA League Pass membership):

Anthony Davis is a video game player

With the Pelicans holding onto a five-point overtime lead, Davis did the equivalent of an NBA Street Volume 3 Gamebreaker — on defense — and essentially ended Chicago’s small odds at making a comeback.

For your viewing pleasure, an NBA Street Vol. 3 gamebreaker:

Here’s an NFL Street defensive gamebreaker for added effect:

Can we bring back NBA and NFL Street? Please?

I digress: Davis finished with 27 points (on 11-of-17 shooting), 16 rebounds and three blocks to lead the Pelicans to a 96-90 win over the Bulls. DeMarcus Cousins added 25 points and 10 rebounds of his own. No pair of teammates had more than two 25-and-10 games together last season. AD and Boogie already have four this season.

Steph Curry screens are unfair

How do you stop Klay Thompson when a two-time MVP is working to get him open?

Answer: E) None of the above.

Andre Drummond is crashin’ boards

Say what you want about Detroit’s big man, but one thing is crystal clear: The man can straight-up rebound.

Drummond finished with 16 points and a ridiculous 19 rebounds in the Pistons’ 108-99 win over Sacramento. It marked 10 games to start the season with 12 or more rebounds. According to NBA.com stats, that’s the second-longest streak of 12-plus boards to start the season in the last 35 years.

Yikes.

The officials also took away this awesome, one-handed, and-one finish he had with a late change that called the foul on the ground:

Non-basketball news

WBC Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder returned from a nine-month hiatus to defend his title against Bermane Stiverne II, and he entered into the ring to 50 Cent rapping his old hit, “Many Men,” live.

If you’re unfamiliar, here are the lyrics to the hook of the song:

“Many men, many, many, many, many men
Wish death ‘pon me
Lord, I don’t cry no more
Don’t look to the sky no more
Have mercy on me
Have mercy on my soul
Somewhere my heart turned cold
Have mercy on many men
Many, many, many, many men
Wish death upon me”

Boxing rounds are three minutes, and Stiverne lasted 2:59.

We want zero problems, big fella.
