Mike James may be 27 years old, but he’s still a rookie. The Phoenix Suns guard learned a valuable rookie lesson on Wednesday when he attempted to challenge Hassan Whiteside at the rim: that it would probably not end well.
Hassan Whiteside delivered an all-time stare down after blocking Suns rookie Mike James
The block was good, but the stare down ...

Whiteside managed to get both hands on that shot — a sure sign you’ve just hurt an opponent’s soul — and then stared down James to be sure he understood what just happened. Look here!
You might think Whiteside is showboating by holding this pose for a second or two, but James went crashing to the floor. He can’t see Whiteside! What’s the point of staring down an opponent if they can’t actually see you do this. I think this is an extremely generous gesture from Whiteside, making sure his new friend James truly understood what just happened.
In all seriousness, I do really like James. I strongly remember that he was impressive in summer league, and I believe he’s worthy of his spot in the NBA. This wasn’t his finest moment, and it was Whiteside at his bounciest best, but that’s just inevitable, all things considered.
