The Buffalo Bills are down to third-string quarterback Joe Webb, who has spent much of his career as a receiver, after Nathan Peterman suffered a head injury and was escorted to the locker room in a snowy game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Bills QB Nathan Peterman injured, replaced by Joe Webb
The Bills are on their third-string quarterback.

According to the CBS broadcast, even if Peterman required a cart to get off the field, it wouldn’t have been an option due to the amount of snow.
Peterman, 23, was a fifth-round pick of the Bills in April and made his first career start in November against the Chargers to disastrous results. Tyrod Taylor resumed his role as Buffalo’s starter, but he was ruled out against the Colts due to a knee injury.
In his second career start, Peterman was tasked with finding offense for the Bills in impossible conditions and wasn’t doing too poorly before his injury. He completed five of 10 passes for 57 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown pass to Kelvin Benjamin.
He was injured when he dove head first on a scramble and appeared to take a helmet-to-helmet collision.
What does this mean for the Bills? Winning against the Colts is crucial for Buffalo’s playoff hopes, but it will likely be on the defense to keep Indianapolis off the scoreboard in the rough conditions.
Webb is an eight-year veteran, but has spent much of his career as a wide receiver with an emergency quarterback label. He threw one pass a week ago against the Patriots, and it was his first regular season attempt since 2011.
If Peterman is seriously injured and Taylor doesn’t get better soon, starting Webb would be a precarious position for a team in the middle of the playoff race.
