Matt Barnes announced he was retiring from the NBA in the most Matt Barnes way possible on Monday via Instagram.

Barnes took to IG to tell everyone that he “did it my way,” before taking his leave.
“Had a cool 15yr run!! Traveled the world met alota cool people, some will be brothers for the rest of my life! BUT NOW....You telling me I can dress like this for business meetings & make more money off the court than I made ON?? & spend more time with my kids??!!Ha... MEEEEE the one that wasn’t suppose to be shit & ended up making it!! Let’s Do it! Love me or HATE ME, I DID IT MY WAY!!” Barnes said.
Barnes was best known for pushing the boundaries of on-court confrontation, including this moment against Kobe Bryant.
He also had a troubled history off the court, most notable was an incident between him and former Knicks head coach and Laker Derek Fisher.
Barnes is retiring after playing for nine teams and winning a title with the Golden State Warriors last year. He averaged 8.2 points per game and 4.6 rebounds as a career enforcer and occasional 3-and-D presence.
Now he’ll move onto other ventures, including his own foundation he created in honor of his mother, who passed away from cancer.
