George had the dagger and quieted the hostile Indiana fans immediately after.

Paul George wasn’t at his best in his first game back in Indiana since joining the Oklahoma City Thunder, but he knocked down the two game-sealing free throws all the same. As he headed to the bench, George couldn’t help but get back at the crowd that had booed him for most of the night.

Yeah, he shushed them up.

George finished the night with 12 points on 3-of-14 shooting, along with four turnovers. Yet his 4-of-4 mark at the line, and a steal immediately preceding the final two, was enough to finish off the Pacers. Indiana had climbed back within one point after trailing by 11 with under five minutes to play, but they couldn’t make a final push across the finish line.

It was still all love for George’s old teammates, though.

That’s fair. Those guys didn’t boo him all game. And sure, Indiana fans probably had a right to do that — SB Nation’s Whitney Medworth explained the George dynamic well on Wednesday. But there was always a chance that George would get them back in the end, just like he did many times for the Pacers throughout his career.
