I’m going to show you a possession, and I feel comfortable calling it the worst possession of this entire NBA season. I usually wouldn’t feel comfortable making such wide-ranging, absolutist opinions, but this one is just obvious. How could it not be the worst possession of this season?
This Oklahoma City Thunder possession will make your eyes bleed
Sorry about your eyes!

Let’s quickly go through what went wrong.
1. Josh Huestis mishandles the ball
Huestis has an open three here, and that would usually be a good result. He’s shooting 33.3 percent this season! But Huestis is looking to shoot before he actually catches the ball, and he has to go chase it down at half court. He thinks it’s good news that he saves this possession, but we know the truth: He should’ve just let the ball go.
2. Carmelo Anthony gets the ball poked out
Carmelo Anthony is having an alright game against Philadelphia, but isolation Melo from the top of the three-point line isn’t an efficient play for Oklahoma City, and it never will be. Naturally, Anthony loses the ball and has to scramble to catch up to it. Somehow, he does.
3. Andre Roberson shoots
I’m not blaming Roberson for terribly airballing his corner three-point shot. I’m blaming him for shooting. He should know better! Roberson is likely the worst shooter in the league. It might have been more noble to fall on his own sword and just walk out of bounds, saving himself from shooting that godawful three.
I mean, not really, but I’m just speculating here.
