Joel Embiid is the NBA’s best trash talker and there’s nothing you can do about it

Trust the process.

Joel Embiid is the league’s best trash talker. This is not up for debate. It doesn’t matter who it is. He’ll come for All-Stars. He’ll come for rookies. He’ll come for players’ dads.

Now, he’s coming for Carmelo Anthony.

Late in a contentious game where the 76ers clawed their way back to tie the Thunder after being down big, Embiid got an and-one bucket at Anthony’s expense. Anthony wasn’t here for it but, as we all know, Embiid totally was.

“I’m not the one. I’m not the one. Don’t do that,” Anthony said to Embiid.

But he did it, though. He forced the game into overtime and then proceeded to take the whole thing over. He talked his trash, but he certainly backed it up.

With stepback jumpers, even.

And crisp, lefty bounce passes.

And this!

That wasn’t it, either. In the game’s third overtime, Embiid fouled out Steven Adams. He also gave him a wave goodbye.

The 76ers lost the game, but Embiid’s trash talk remained undefeated. He finished with 34 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and two blocks. It’s his world and we’re just living in it.

Embiid talks a lot, but when you’re that good? You can say whatever you want. There’s nothing anyone can do with him.

Trust the process, indeed.
