A terrifying moment took place at the South Carolina State vs. North Carolina State matchup earlier Saturday as an SC State player collapsed and needed CPR on the sidelines. EMTs were called to the sideline to assist the down player — senior guard Ty Solomon — and play was halted as both teams returned to their locker rooms.
A South Carolina State player’s heart stopped midgame. He’s OK after trainer gave him CPR, per report
Senior guard Ty Solomon resuscitated by trainer on the sidelines in first half vs. NC State.

According to the broadcast on NBC Sports Washington, the SC State trainer was the first to administer CPR, eventually resuscitating Solomon. He’s reportedly awake and doing well after his heart stopped on the sideline, according to head coach Murray Garvin.
Obviously, this was a scary moment for both teams as they huddled up in prayer while medical officials tended to Solomon. NC State head coach Kevin Keatts joined SC State head coach Murray Garvin on their bench, putting his arm around him in support.
Play was halted with the Wolfpack leading 22-5 with 12:43 remaining in the first half, and after a lengthy break, the decision was made to resume play. The Bulldogs were welcomed back to the court with a standing ovation from the State fans at PNC Arena, and the Wolfpack cheerleaders lined the SC State tunnel.
Garvin went to the hospital with Solomon, leaving associate head coach Rio Pitt in command on the Bulldog sidelines. Solomon has started all eight games for the Bulldogs, averaging 2.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 23 minutes per game.
