Russell Westbrook won the Oklahoma City Thunder a basketball game, saving them from an embarrassing loss to the Atlanta Hawks. With time running out, Westbrook tee’d up a long three — about 28 feet — and buried it with 1.7 seconds remaining on the clock.
Russell Westbrook saved the Thunder with a long game-winning 3-pointer vs. Hawks
What a shot!

Atlanta’s John Collins missed a desperation three at the buzzer, giving Oklahoma City a 120-117 victory. The Thunder had led by 16 points, only to see the Hawks surge back ahead early in the fourth quarter. They led again by four points with 43 seconds remaining, but Atlanta once again tied it up, only to see Westbrook break their hearts.
Westbrook’s dagger wasn’t quite his iconic, absurd 40-foot three-pointer last season ... but clearly, deep game-winners aren’t anything new for Mr. Triple Double.
Westbrook finished Friday’s game with a great line: 30 points, seven rebounds, 15 assists, just three turnovers, and 12-of-17 shooting. My goodness, that is a blistering effort.
