Here’s an NBA play that isn’t quite like any that I’ve ever seen.
Frank Ntilikina ruined his own assist by running into his teammate
Ntilikina slammed into Doug McDermott, who probably would have laid this ball in otherwise.
Frank Ntilikina makes a good move to drive baseline past T.J. McConnell, and he reads the play right, dishing the ball off to a cutting Doug McDermott. And then ... he runs into him since he can’t slow down his momentum. Dermott misses the layup, which seemed like an almost certain bucket if his own teammate hadn’t just plowed into him.
It wasn’t really Ntilikina’s fault, or McDermott’s, just an unfortunate and bizarre sequence of events.
