Up until the Detroit Lions moved to Ford Field in 2002, Detroit fans had to make a trek to the outer suburbs to watch their team play at the Pontiac Silverdome. Now, those same fans can officially say farewell to that stadium. On Sunday, fans have a chance to watch the first stage of the demolition of the Pontiac Silverdome at 8:30 a.m. ET. Click On Detroit has an aerial view of the implosion streaming live.
Silverdome implosion live stream: Watch the former Lions home be destroyed online
The Pontiac Silverdome will finally come down with an implosion set for Sunday morning.

If you live in the region, you can view the demolition and park your vehicle at the Oakland County Water Resource Commission site at 155 N. Opdyke. But fans have to park their vehicles by 8:15 a.m. If you are outside Southeast Michigan, Pontiac plans to live stream the implosion on its Facebook page.
The Lions played in this 400,000 square foot stadium from 1975, the year it opened, through 2001. In that span, Detroit collected eight playoff appearances — including three division championships — but just one playoff win. That one came in 1991 in the Silverdome. The Pistons played there for a stint, too. Notable events like WrestleMania III and the first round of the 1994 World Cup were held in the Silverdome.
When the Lions decided to relocate from the Pontiac Silverdome back to the city of Detroit in 2002, the stadium was left without its main tenant. Plans to fill it — including turning it into a soccer stadium to lure MLS — failed, so it frequently sat unused. Unfortunately for the Pontiac Silverdome, several years back, a huge snow storm damaged its inflatable roof, which exposed everything inside the dome.
