Tyrod Taylor avoided a major knee injury vs. Patriots

Taylor has a patellar contusion, and as long as he’s healthy enough to play, he’ll start in Week 14.

Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor is considered day-to-day with a patellar contusion he suffered against the Patriots in Week 13, the team announced Monday.

The only way Nathan Peterman will get the start for Buffalo this week is if Taylor isn’t physically able to go.

Taylor was carted to the locker room with the injury against the Patriots. He remained out for the remainder of the game. He was replaced with Nathan Peterman at quarterback.

Head coach Sean McDermott said after the game that Taylor took a hit on the first play of the game. McDermott declined to comment further at that time until the team learned more about the extent of Taylor’s injury, according to WGRZ’s Heather Prusak.

However, Taylor was optimistic that he’ll be fine:

What does this mean for the Bills? They have to hope for the best. The Bills started Peterman over Taylor against the Chargers a couple of weeks ago, and he threw five interceptions on just 14 pass attempts in the first half.

Taylor would eventually come into the game in the second half in relief of Peterman, who put up an all-time bad performance in his first NFL start.

The Bills came into the game at 6-5. They were down 23-3 when Taylor was carted off, and lost by the same score. They fell to 6-6, and even though their playoff hopes took a hit this week, they are only a game back of a wild card spot.
