LeSean McCoy carted off the field with ankle injury in Bills vs. Dolphins

This is a terrible blow to Buffalo.

LeSean McCoy went down with an ankle injury in the Bills’ Week 17 matchup against the Dolphins. McCoy had to be carted from the field.

The team initially announced that McCoy is questionable to return to the matchup. He was ruled out shortly after that. It’s a sprain for McCoy and X-rays didn’t show any fractures, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

McCoy was hurt on a 3-yard carry in the third quarter. He was swarmed by a couple of Dolphins defenders, and his ankle got rolled.

Immediately after the injury, McCoy stayed on the turf, removed his helmet, and punched the ground out of apparent frustration, according to the Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero.

McCoy had 1,128 yards rushing, 426 yards receiving, and eight total touchdowns coming into this week’s game. He put up 10 yards on 11 carries against Miami before suffering the injury.

It’s a game that has playoff implications for Buffalo. The Bills are hoping to snap a 17-season postseason drought. The Bills need to beat the Dolphins and keep their fingers crossed for a Bengals win over the Ravens to lock up a wild card spot.
