The likeliest candidate to be the first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett, announced he won’t be in attendance in Philadelphia.

Garrett, a 6’5, 270-pound pass rusher, has been projected by most to be the first selection by the Cleveland Browns. While more than two months remain until the first round will begin, Garrett is the overwhelming early favorite to go first.

But he told the Houston Chronicle that he’s much more interested in spending draft day with his family than walking across the stage to shake Roger Goodell’s hand.

If Garrett is selected with the first overall selection, it wouldn’t be the first time that the top pick isn’t in attendance. Just two years ago, Jameis Winston didn’t travel to Chicago for the 2015 NFL Draft because his grandmother was unable to make the trip due to health reasons.

Garrett racked up 32.5 sacks and 48.5 tackles for loss during his three seasons with the Aggies.
