In the last year, MLB lost some very good people. One of those is Yordano Ventura. Prior to the opening of the Kansas City Royals’ spring training game against the Texas Rangers, Adrian Beltre and Carlos Gomez honored the 25-year-old in a very touching way.

A touching tribute by Beltre and Gomez.

Gomez and Beltre, like Ventura, hail from the Dominican Republic. And according to the Dallas Morning News, Gomez and Ventura had a friendly relationship.
“I feel so bad about it,” Gomez said. “This just shows that you have to live life every day. Nobody but God knows what is next.”
On Jan. 22, the world received the tragic news of Ventura’s death as the result of a car crash in his home country of the Dominican Republic.
In 2016, Ventura went 11-12 with a 4.45 ERA. He collected 144 strikeouts and posted a 1.44 WHIP. His fastball was freakish with velocity some times topping 100 miles per hour. Some argued he might be the hardest throwing starting pitcher ever.
