When it comes to depressing moments in sports, it’s hard to beat the Colts’ “AFC Finalist” banner. However, things can always be worse.
Falcons store removing ‘Super Bowl champions’ gear from shelves is saddest video of the week
So close, but no cigar for the Falcons.

Last night, the Falcons’ chances of winning Super Bowl 51 were so high that the franchise’s first-ever Lombardi trophy seemed like a guarantee at one point of the game. With 21 minutes to go, Atlanta had a 99.8 percent chance of beating New England. The Patriots’ miraculous comeback, however, thwarted those chances and instead created one of the saddest moments in recent sports history.
Stores across Atlanta had stocked Super Bowl champion memorabilia, preparing for the swarms of excited fans. Instead, those same stores were forced to remove the merchandise.
I mean seriously, it doesn’t get much worse than this.
Of course, none of these stores could even sell this merchandise, but the footage just makes Atlanta’s late-game meltdown feel even more depressing than it already was. The entire city of Atlanta was just a few minutes away from the city’s first championship in over two decades, and instead, Atlanta suffered through perhaps the most brutal Super Bowl loss in history.
