Canadiens acquire Dwight King from Kings in deadline day trade
Los Angeles receives a conditional fourth-round pick for the hefty winger.

King is a big, physical winger who continues the Canadiens’ midseason forward shakeup. The team already traded center David Desharnais to the Oilers and acquired center Steve Ott from the Red Wings in separate deals, so its lineup should start looking a bit different from here on out.
ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun says the Habs wanted to get bigger up front, and that’ll definitely happen with King, who measures at 6’4, 229 pounds. He’s much bigger than the 5’7, 171-pound Desharnais, so right there you can see what Montreal’s goal was with this series of moves.
King has recorded eight goals and seven assists in 63 games with the Kings this season. The 27-year-old has been a part of the franchise since getting selected in the fourth round of the 2007 NHL draft, and made his NHL debut with the club during the 2010-11 season. He finishes his time in LA, which included two Stanley Cups, with 52 goals and 56 assists in 348 regular season games.
